Year 1 + 5 months in…

It’s kind of hard to believe how much this little bean has grown. I remember when I could carry her in one arm without a thought… nowadays, I’m huffing and puffing with this 22lbs kiddo.

Yuki’s had a few milestones since the last time I’ve updated. She had her first dentist appointment (OH THE TEARS), and has become very discerning when it comes to which books must be read at bedtime. She loves to brush her own teeth, and always tries to drink from a grown up cup. Yuki has learned to climb on to the bed, the couch, the step stool in the bathroom, the piano stool, and her parents.

Yuki is also obsessed with ball pits and bounce houses (we’re going to have to get her her own ball pit!)

Other quirky new habits… hiding her puzzle pieces under the playmat:

Climbing on to her book box and planking:

loving MY TEA (I don’t even have sugar in it. Just unsweetened almond milk!), and she loves the taste of soap (what a weirdo!)

We’ve been working on using basic sign language with her to help her communicate with us if she wants/needs something. She had been using the sign for milk for a while (which, to her, meant either milk or water). She’s finally figured out the sign for more and uses it for both food and more. I showed her the sign for eat, and she sometimes forgets to sign, but will chant eateateateateat until I give her some food.

Just recently, Steve taught her the word cookie (I showed her the sign for it). Now, when she wants whatever sweet thing I’m eating, she’s yelling COOKIECOOKIECOOKIE (and sometimes tries to work her little hands to sign for it).

Other words she loves: apple, ball, doggie, duckie, dada, eat, banana, mammam, bee, nose, nonono, up. Every time I sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to her, she tries really hard to say up above (and she’s almost succeeds every time!).

Her favorite bedtime book I Love You Through and Through… and whenever I say “I love you”, she’s been saying it right back! (I really need to record that. It’s stinkin’ cute.)

Yuki has become a tiny, running, demanding, discerning, talking human. BUT, occasionally, she likes to remind me that she’s still a baby.
